Vita

Isabel Hertl is a research assistant and doctoral student at the Professorship Finance and Accounting at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Before she joined the team of Prof. Dr. Maniora in November 2018, she received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (LMU) in 2015, specializing in the subjects Accounting and Controlling. In the context of her bachelor thesis “Analysis of the context between corporate governance and voluntary disclosure”, she dealt with the question of how external and internal factors of a firms’ environment affect the reporting of non-financial voluntary information. In 2018, she obtained her master’s degree in Business Administration at Westfälische Wilhelms-University (WWU) Muenster, majoring in Accounting and Controlling. The research field of her master thesis “Challenges associated with the implementation of non-financial reporting guidelines for diversified concerns – illustrated by the example of Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH” examined the implementation requirements of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Directive 2014/95/EU into a highly diversified group such as the Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH. During her master studies, she took part at the John Molson MBA International Case Competition in Montreal, Canada, on behalf of the University of Muenster. Furthermore, she worked as a student research assistant, primarily in the research field of CSR, sustainable development and corporate (non-)financial reporting and disclosure at the chair of Controlling at WWU. She also gained international practical experience in the accounting, auditing and reinsurance profession at diverse companies (e.g. EY Santiago de Chile; EY Düsseldorf; Baker Tilly Munich; RSM Altavis Munich; MunichRe London) and worked at FlixBus, Munich, in the early stage of start-up and market entrance.
